Curtains raise as the crowd watches on with anticipation, the stage illuminated with a single spotlight. Little did they expect that a resounding ‘BOOM!’ accompanied by a shower of fireworks brought forth the explosive introduction of the star of the show. Major The Rabbit Magician, a name that strikes awe and cheer to all around! This talented performer is infamous for his impulsive, daredevil personality that fuels his magic and stunt shows, leaving audiences with nothing but praise of the highest calibre. Even when he was just a kit, Major had demonstrated extremely powerful conjuring and pyrotechnical abilities, which he continued to hone and develop as he grew older. His future as a master magic user seemed to be set in stone. But Major had different plans for his life. “I don’t want to be a wizard in a lonely tower” He coolly told his guardians. “I wanna be a magician!” And so, with a burst of fire and sparkles, he disappeared from his stuffy old neighbourhood and off to see the wide world!. Nowadays, Major The Rabbit Magician can be found in the Droopy Dreams Theatre, whether it be performing for a wide-eyed audience, practising new stunts and tricks, or exploiting the fire and bomb-proof auditorium to blow up more indoor fireworks. It’s never a dull moment when you’re around the best magician in the universe!

Major The Rabbit Magician was initially created as a homage to my father. When designing, I imagined how my dad would act silly to make us laugh, yet he fell serious when doing his work. I recreated the energy that I felt, crafting the image of a sleek and skilful conjurer who indulged in chaos during his private time.

After presenting my creation to the one who inspired it all, Major was placed to the side in favour of fan art and fan characters. My interest in him was piqued when I formed ideas about Ectobear’s family. If Major represented my father, what was he to Ectobear? Given that my other character, Blizzard, represented anxiety, would Major represent confidence?

Running with that idea, I redesigned Major to become more impish, a menace of sorts. His private wild side was blown up to become his main personality trait, grace was thrown out the window. Major became the epitome of Ectobear’s impulsitivity, passion and bravery, never backing down from an opportunity to showcase his vast power and dragging unwilling participants into magic practice.
